The Stretching

My boy tried to run; they were faster.  Surrounded again.  Why was it always our fate; to be chosen?  I was safe from harm; in the beginning, tucked away in the sturdy denim fabric.  The whiteness of my covering was unseen, until that first day.  He had fallen and then two hands grabbed me and pulled hard upwards.  He tried to escape; his feet hovering above the ground; and could not.  I felt myself being stretched past my limits; elastic tearing and unbearable pain.  He cried; they laughed and then it was over, for now.  Tomorrow was another day.

Morning Heat

Morning Heat

The fire felt so warm and it kept the daybreak chill away.  I was so relaxed that I felt as if I were being poured out.  The initial frostiness I felt went away moments later as I settled into my new surroundings; I was still quite hot, and that was a good thing.  Something was missing though.  The heat had been taken away and I was beginning to cool down.  A bit of stickiness was mixing into my very essence along with a vanilla creaminess that hinted of almond.  My heart longs for the heat that the fire brings.

The Lie

Push the button

Push the button (Photo credit: iNkMan_)

It didn’t move very easily.  It was stuck; I mashed it down harder.  It moved a little bit.  I had to know the reason why it said, DO NOT PUSH.  It was red and it had to be pushed.  So I pushed it.  Once, twice, and a third time; Nothing happened.  No noise, no flash of light and no scream from the other room.  Why?  It’s a lie, push all of the red buttons you want for it’s a lie.  I opened the door to the outside and for a moment saw…the radiation was the only thing, the last thing.
